Samantha Musnecki. MEMORY RESTORED

Sud. G. Česonis, designer T. Mrazauskas, published Kaunas Photography Gallery, 2011.

In the catalogue of Algirdo Musneckis's exhibition "Restored Memory", you can see the collection of negatives collected by the author and raised by the photographer for a new life. According to Virginija Kinčinaitis, these photographs do not lose relevance today , because, first of all, unlike many professionals, Algirdas is not afraid of naïve photographic amateurism. Retreating himself as an author, destroying himself as an artist, he gives way to incredibly sincere and dramatic images of lost family, travel, festive or random photographs. That is how these images became public, which is why they were able to appeal to us and be thrilled by their kitsch simplicity, their own intimacy, their unexpected proximity to postmodern or conceptual photography.
