Although the history of Lithuania and the experience of the Soviet era are the fulcrum of all A. Valiauga's series and projects, his view of the environment around us is not nostalgic, he is not looking for signs of the past in modern everyday life. On the contrary, A. Valiauga examines what is left, what has changed, and why. The author does not try to eliminate the signs of the present from photography or to disguise unromantic, ugly, domestic, awkward fragments of reality. Lithuanian identity is important to him in the current, 21st century European, world context. A. Valiauga is characterized by a conscious open critical view of the present, a controlled sense of color and time, harmony of the form, expression and theme of photography.
