Chaimas Frenkel (1857–1920) and his son Jokūbas (1883–1967) created a modern leather industry in Šiauliai and developed it to a global level, they gave impetus to the city of Šiauliai to become a major center of industry, culture and public life in the interwar period. Through the history of one residential house-villa, the book reveals the life of a famous Jewish family, shows its influence on Šiauliai and their complicated fate.
