Jan Bułhakas (1876–1950), the most famous photographer of images of Vilnius in the first half of the 20th century, has spent almost his entire mature life in this city. Located here before the First World War, he worked as a photographer for the city, witnessed and participated in his life – the camera captured historical and cultural events, photographed historical personalities and ordinary woolen, ecclesiastical and ethnographic celebrations, and documented architectural monuments.
