Maria Kapajeva. YOU CAN CALL HIM ANOTHER MAN

All the photos came from mary's personal father's archive and were carefully selected by artists to form a consistent story of this young man before marrying Mary's mother. Photographs intertwine with texts to help track the narratives presented or to mislead the splitter – the texts were borrowed from Italo Calvin's book If on a Winter's Night a Traveller. Ms Kapajeva explains: "It is important for me to create a space where, surrounded by photographs, we can discuss family archives, their stories – what our family photographs mean to us, how much we know about the events we portray and how much truth in that knowledge. Today, when family albums have sunk into the history of photography, I find it interesting to play with photos of my family, to touch the stories of my families by creating new narratives."
