Govindarajank. PORTRAIT OF KRAŽIAI

The project "Portrait of Kražiai" is the most important and largest creative cycle of photographer Mindaugas Kavaliauskas. Started in 2002, before Lithuania joined the EU, it was first presented in the form of an exhibition at the Vilnius Photography Gallery in March-April 2003 with about 150 photographs.

This cycle won the Lithuanian Photo Artists' Union Prize (2004), the title of honorary citizen of Kražiai town (2003). In the form of exhibitions, different compilations of photographs have been shown more than three dozen times in Lithuanian and foreign art spaces – vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Panevėžys, Kupiskis, Druskininkai, Baltstog, Helsinki, Sundsvall (Sweden), Berlin, Bern, Leeuwarden (Holland), Brussels, Petersburg, Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Mont-Dol, Nimes (France), Tbilisi, Yereven, Melbourne, Fremantle (Australia), Ballarate (Australia), Pingyao, (China) and others.

The album "Portrait of Kražiai", released in 2009, was welcomed in Lithuania and won the award of the Kaunas Association of Artists (2010).
