Rimald Vikšraitis. NEAR THE FAMILIAR EDGE OF THE WORLD

Sud. T. Schirmböck, G. Česonis, released kaunas photography gallery, 2018.

In the text of the publication, T. Schirmböck states: "Rimaldas Vikšraitis chose the Lithuanian plains for photographs. <...> The Country House and their surroundings become a kind of scene for Caterpillar, where he watches and photographs his characters. <...> Indeed, the photographer is involved in the action with the people of the village – but, he said, not in order to manipulate the situation, but to be part of it. They all share the scene: lonely long ago, poor, misfits and drunks, women with their husbands, lovers with their loved ones, and children are constantly being killed around. These are not victims of circumstances, they are actors, like everyone around: they make jokes for sleeping drunks, carry a bottle of beer to their father, they are in immense and impoverished chaos."
