"Victory and Defeat" and "Restless Travelers" - these are closely related publications presenting the early work of the famous photographer. They are united by the 20th century. the period of the 1970s, in which the published photographs were created, and the general theme of motorcycling, which the author looks at from different perspectives in each publication. The diary of R. Požerskis' youth, amateur films and personal photo albums of the photographer's companions, which are exhibited together with the photographs, will help to discover the immediate relationship with the period captured in the photographs.
In the album "Victory and Defeats" published in 1974-1976. R. Požerskis's earliest photographs of the series of the same name were created. They continue a similar theme of motocross captured in photos. However, this series is no longer dominated by the spontaneous capture of a moment for a personal album, but by thoughtful creative decisions and the effort to create a unified cycle of photographs. Here the author's unique worldview and creative traits are revealed, which soon allowed him to become a well-known photographer in Lithuania and the world. The aim of the photographs is not to capture the physical action, but the psychological atmosphere of the competition. The most important thing in this series is the opening of a person's inner world in the image of the present moment. The context of the event is important in R. Požerski's photographs only to the extent that it allows to reveal the spiritual state of a person, which the photographer tries to capture by interfering as little as possible in the recorded situation, remaining a neutral observer."
