Mazur writes in the text of the publication: "The force of this material stems from the fundamental ruthless confrontation between innocent childhood and the realities of a special school. In addition, the least talked about here is about highlighting the absurd encounter of 'abnormal' children with the 'normal' world of a totalitarian state. <...> This photographer's most important thing is a new perspective and looking at the world through the eyes of a child."
V. Šonta was one of the most important creators of his generation in the field of Lithuanian photography. Like V. Luckaus, V. Šonta's work did not fit into the frames of the established Lithuanian School of Photography, was distinguished by constant searches, expanded the expression of local photography. During the creative period of more than 20 years, the author received recognition not only in the local context, but also in the wider context – V. Šonta's works were exhibited in important institutions of Lithuania, the Soviet Union, Europe, North and South America.
